Early pregnancy and anxiety

Hi everyone, I'm only 6 weeks gone but I am really struggling with my anxiety. I'm not taking anything as I don't want to risk any health problems with my baby. The thing is, I am constantly worried I'm going to miss carry, I can think of nothing else. I am also worried that my stress will make me misscarry, it's a viscous circle. People keep saying "take it easy" or "don't think like that" but it's easier said than done. I had an early scan yesterday due to severe cramping, they couldn't find anything wrong but they couldn't find a heart beat and said it's too early to see one, but they asked questions about my periods and how frequent they were, I knew they were trying to work out if it had stopped growing. I am booked in again next Monday to see if there is a heartbeat. Does anyone have any advice on how to chill out please?

I have been in the exact same situation as you. Don't second guess what they were trying to work out because you will tie yourself in knots. And it is a vicious circle anyway, because the more you worry the worse it will get. When I was in very early pregnancy I found that distraction helped - we bought a lot of new DVDs and watched those. They kept the thoughts at bay for a while.

Cramping in early pregnancy can be down to all sorts of things and that includes a completely normal body reaction (I had it, and lots of others do as well). It is not always possible to see a heartbeat at 6 weeks and perhaps they were asking about your periods to figure out whether you were 6 weeks gone or maybe earlier/later in the pregnancy than you thought.

I hope all goes well for you on Monday x

Thank you for replying, I know I'm being silly and cramps are normal but it's so hard to stop the thoughts spiralling out of control. I will try to keep myself busy! X
