Will I feel happy again?

I've always had a slightly anxious personality (had a phobia of vomit since very young and stress would always result in tummy ache and fear of being sick). Five years ago I had a very serious road accident which resulted in 2 years in a wheelchair, internal injuries, burns ect. this obviously caused psychological trauma however with therapy it was pretty manageable.
That is until now, me and my partner have recently bought our first home and it has triggered the worst anxiety and low mood. We've only moved 30 minutes from where we were renting but have gone from busy town centre flat to quiet cul de sac in a town where we have no friends. I'm having massive anxiety attacks and feel so low. We've discussed moving back once we've done this place up but I'm terrified that won't 'fix' me and I'll never be happy and content again.
I guess I'm just here for some positive experiences and maybe a hand hold..

Yes you absolutely will feel happy again and your anxious mind will already be doubting that statement because that is what anxiety does. It tricks you into believing you can never be normal again. Well you are normal, it's just change has brought on anxiety and depression. I would advise going to the doctor and having a chat, moving back may or may not fix the issue, if it doesn't there are plenty of things that can!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I have been to the doctors and am on a waiting list for an anxiety and low mood course as medication is not for me (too anxious of side effects to take it!). I keep thinking I'll look back on this time from a much happier place in the future but it's hard to imagine actually getting there!

That's great, massive first step you have taken! You should be proud of yourself, it's not easy asking for help.

Medication isn't for everyone, though I have terrible health anxiety and hate taking even paracetamol, but I have not long started antidepressants anyways, even though it scares me. Hopefully the course will have you feeling better asap, but if not, medication helps!

Big hugs to you and I hope you'll be in the happier place soon :)

Hi, I know it's hard to imagine when you're in it, but you will feel happy again. It's like waves... the mental health waves... they come and go.

You'll get there. If you're certain medication isn't for you then I hope the course really helps you.

I was terrified of meds but beta blockers have changed everything for me. No side effects except sleepiness, which is bearable!
