Fluanxol and drowsiness in the day?

Hi, i've been taking Fluanxol (also known as Flupantixol or Flupanthixol) for four months and I'm so drowsy on it.

I can't last a day without a good 2 hour nap.

When I'm awake, I'm drowsy and feel a bit hysterical at times with the tiredness, I barely do anything though.

I'm taking it for depression, 2mg a day. My doctor insists that tiredness is not a side effect and it's probably just the depression making me exhausted but I don't remember this before.

Otherwise I think it's helping but the tiredness... I'm considering stopping.

I've never taken this particular drug but do remember when I took pericyazine that it made me pretty drowsy for ages - I slept like a log.

Be very careful stopping the meds; taper down slowly and with your doctor's advice. I was v u fortunate and got the movement disorder tardive dyskinesia after just a week of taking the pericyazine, and I was never told to taper down which I feel v angry about.

Anyway, let us know what your doc says and what you decide to do

I'm going to go down slowly as I can't handle the drowsiness. I also don't sleep well at night, probably because I sleep during the day, but I can't fight the naps.

I'm exactly the same on 2.5mg. I hate it and want to switch to something else, but everything I've tried makes me drowsy like this- I think i'm just very unlucky.
