Setraline for anxiety? Help?

I suffered from anxiety before I had my baby boy and I used to take citalopram. I stopped taking them when I was pregnant and I felt ok, but since having my baby 6 months ago my anxiety has gone through the roof (it's mainly centred around my phobia of vomiting) I wasn't even able to leave the house some weeks and was having regular panic attacks. I went to my GP a couple of days ago and she prescribed me 50mg sertraline and referred me for therapy. Has anyone taken sertraline before? What side effects did you have? I'm always apprehensive about taking new medication with my phobia. Thank you.

I had the side effect of feeling like I'd taken an 'e' if you've ever done that (clenched jaw/grinding teeth) but without the high. It wore off after a week or so. 50mg is the starting dose so it shouldn't be too much of a shock. I thought citalopram was worse re nausea. And I had no libido for 2 years, then it came back and made up for lost time.

Yes - it was life changing for
me. You will feel worse before you feel better but after about a month or two, I was living an anxiety free life that I couldn't have even comprehended without sertraline. It's given me my life back. But you have to stick with it.

I had zero side effects, first time ever on any antidepressant. They made me feel like a person again. My anxiety was unbearable. I've been on them for about two years and have started to taper off now. I feel dizzy and tired. Hoping that goes soon. Good luck with them.
