Is it normal for it to do nothing? I've not had it before. I've taken 5mg over 2 hours ago and I still can't stop moving/anxious chest thing too. I've not had any caffeine. I don't know if I actually feel more wound up than I was before Confused

Low-ish doses do nothing for me. A large dose does, but understandably doctors aren't keen to prescribe that. (I used to have a large prescription for some years before moving to the UK, and it knocked me out good and proper.)

Propranolol might help better with the physical anxiety symptoms, although for me it's the same - low doses don't do much. I'm now prescribed Promazine to take when overwhelmed by anxiety.

Sometimes for me it's the second or third dose that kicks in and really sorts me out. I can actually feel it washing over me. Brilliant once it's working. The thing is, if you are worrying about it not working, or any side effects you might get you'll be winding yourself up even more and feeling worse. When I'm really anxious I take a shower or try to watch a film to take my mind off my symptoms. These are my fail safes if I am really suffering. I know if I come out of the shower still feeling bad then I'm in it for the long haul. Hope the diazepam starts working for you soon OP.

thanks for the advice. I think being nervous about getting addicted and not wanting to take more than one dose might not have been helping!
