Fluoxetine during pregnancy

I posted this on the pregnancy forum, too, but don't seem to be having much luck.

Just looking for some advice..
I've been prescribed fluoxetine this week by my doctor. I'm 24w pregnant with my first baby and read that this can harm your unborn baby, so I went and got a second opinion from a different doctor who said he doesn't know of any bad effects this has had on a baby, but can't guarantee anything would happen (which is understandable).

Has anyone had a baby whilst taking this medication? How was your baby after they were born (I've heard they're jittery, etc). My mum thinks I'm selfish for considering risking the babies health which is making me feel crappy and unsure on what to do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated Smile

I stopped taking it after 10 weeks after reading the leaflet and talking to my midwife. She said she hadn't known of any side effects to baby but she said it was for the best not to take it.

Not really much help from me sorry, but I hope someone is able to advise.

When I was TTC my GP told me to come off fluoxetine. As it turned out, a psychiatrist that got consulted told off my GP, emphasising that this drug was really really OK in pregnancy, and by far preferable to my mental health going downhill.

Good luck!
