Citalopram increase

I've been on 20mg since Feb and have plateaued. Im up every day, eat once or twice a day. I'm tired all the time and still struggle with sleep. But I'm a lot better than I was six months ago. My negative/paranoid thoughts have quieted and I'm having less 'overly active' phases.

However I'm still unable to do my job properly. I can't organise my way out of a paper bag at the minute!

I spoke to GP and she has upped the dose to 30mg. So I have chronic dry mouth, lethargy and diarrhoea to cope with while I adjust.

I'm concerned I'm on the wrong type of meds. And I'm worried that I still don't feel like me!

Is it worth trying something else?

I think your best bet is to ask the doctor.
I was in the same boat-ish and upped my meds to 30mg and I didn't have any nasty side effects so perhaps you do need to change the medication.

My guess is that it's not the right SSRI for you. Our brains are so finely tuned (or out-of-tune! Grin) we all need subtly different things to get them back in shape. The lethargy is a massive problem side effect with Citalopram. It ruined the drug for me in the end. But mentally, it made me feel 100% myself so if you're not getting that benefit, try something different. Have you tried Venfaxaline - that's supposed to not cause drowsiness. Or sertraline? Did nothing for me but helped a couple of friends. I'm currently on Prozac. hated it at first, it was SO slow to kick in, but it has stopped that wooly muddled head I had on Citalopram. Go back to GP and be very honest about the side effects. Ask to try soemthing else. They love Prozac because it's cheap

I meant Venlafaxine. Can never remember the name of that drug!
