just been prescribed this and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on whether it was best to take in the morning or at night in order to help minimise the side effects? was too upset to ask the gp - only thought after i'd left the surgery

My gp advised to take it at night, to sleep off the side effects...... Great, except one of the side effects for me was it kept me awake. All night. Every night. After a few days I switched to morning and felt a lot better, just a bit wobbly at times for the first week or so. I think it depends on how it will affect you really (sorry that's not much help is it?)

I'm much better taking it in the morning. It disturbed my sleep at night. The side effects went after about a month. Mentally I'm better than I've been in years

I always took it at night as unlike pp it didn't disturb my sleep but did make me feel very sick and I could just sleep through that.

Flowers for you

I take it in the morning. I also make sure I take it after food as it gives me heartburn otherwise (I seem to be unusual in having this particular side effect).

It's trial and error. Some are fine in the morning, others at night. I find it's best between 3 and 4 pm.
Take it in the morning it knocks me out. After 4 and I'm awake for far too long.

I started on Sertraline 6 days ago and take it in the morning with breakfast and a hot drink. The second day I felt sick and have had a bit of indigestion since then but otherwise OK. Sleeping better at night again too. Today I feel less anxious than I have for a long time so I think it may already be starting to help.
