Feeling suicidal. I'm just tired of struggling. Want to hurt myself but am a bit scared.

What are you struggling with? I'm here if you want to vent. I hope you haven't hurt yourself, if you have the urge to self harm then get in a cold shower rather than doing any permanent damage. I know that sounds weird but it will help.

Sorry that you feeling like this. Please don't hurt yourself. If you really are overwhelmed by the feeling but an elastic band or hair bobble on your wrist then ping it. It works. It was what I was advised to do. It does take the edge of the need to self harm. But pls get some help Flowers

If you can, take yourself out of the situation. I've been there, and the things I found helpful were setting a timer for 5 mins (or whatever) and doing something like a jigsaw for that time. Then setting it again.
Speaking to the samaritians or crisis team at a&e (much more helpful that I imagined) and bizarrely going to somewhere busy and bright like ikea.

I've called my gp before, can you do that? It does get better.

Please seek help. You're not alone Flowers

I think I'm feeling so bad cos I started taking the mini pill and propranolol, both of which have made me feel worse in the past. But I've stopped taking them now.

I took my nights dose of mirtazapine early to see if it makes me less anxious.

There's no point in phoning my Cmht because they don't help me.

The mini pill gave me terrible anxiety and propranolol just makes me tired, you were right to stop. Is anyone with you at the moment?

alltalknobaby · 01/06/2017 17:44

Calmday do you want to be dead forever, or just for the awful feelings to stop? Can you tell us a bit more about how you're feeling?

and apologies that I don't have any emotional strength left to offer more

How are you doing today? Any better?

calmday · 02/06/2017 08:35

Hi all. I went to bed early last night. I dunno if I feel any better yet. I got a 'period' this morning ( a withdrawal bleed from the mini pill) which is nice cos I haven't had a period in over six months due to my antipsychotic medication.

I have my DP with me. He made the kids breakfast and got them ready this morning. He is advising me to have a bath with some music on. The annoying thing is we have electric water heating so I've got to heat the water for three hours before I can have a bath.

Bhj · 02/06/2017 10:16

A bath with music sounds good. Hopefully now you've had that release you may feel a bit better. My periods stopped for 2 years when I was on antipsychotics and I'm sure that must affect how u feel in someway.

calmday · 02/06/2017 10:27

Did they Bhj? Did your periods come back once you stopped antipsychotics? I've got to get my antipsychotic changed cos my prolactin levels are too high, hence the absent periods

OP posts:
Bhj · 02/06/2017 17:41

Yes I was on risperodone and they stopped it for same reason. Now on aripiprazole and periods are regular again.

calmday · 02/06/2017 18:23

That's good that your cycle has gone back to normal. Aripriprazole is what my psychiatrist wanted to change me to but it made my OCD worse so I don't know what he's gonna change me to next week

Bhj · 02/06/2017 18:45

There's a few different ones they can try but I can't think of the names of them now. Its just a case of trial and error with them unfortunately which is never easy. How are you feeling now?

calmday · 02/06/2017 19:50

I'm feeling much better now, thanks for asking. I think having a period has made me feel better. A lot less anxious today. Not feeling suicidal anymore Smile

alltalknobaby · 02/06/2017 20:17

Very glad to hear that you're not feeling suicidal today 😊

Bhj · 02/06/2017 21:21

That's great news! Well done on getting through it. I've been there when I've had to take things minute by minute not even day by day. Its good to talk when you're feeling like that knowing others are listening. Do u have anything nice planned for the weekend?

calmday · 03/06/2017 08:45

We are taking the kids to the beach and then are having a visit from my parents, which will be nice. Smile

OP posts:
Bhj · 03/06/2017 09:08

I think a visit to the beach is just what you need, its where I always go when I need to clear my head. Have a good day. 🌅
