Hello, hope everyone has sunshine where you are.
Does anybody have experience of being diagnosed with bpd and what were your symptoms?
I am a chronic depression /anxiety sufferer but have felt for a long time it's more than that. I heard a lady on the radio and related to her story closely. She then said she had BPD, and a light bulb came on. Thanks xx

i have a diagnosis of bpd , i think its because i've always(-since childhood) have had the same unhelpful thoughts and extreme emotions which are so severe they impact everything.
no meds or therapies seem to help - as im stuck with these thoughts and emotions ,its deemed part of my personality.
i have 7 out of the 9 diagnostic symptoms.

Thanks so much for replying. I do this want to be a self diagnoser and be totally wrong. The thoughts struck a chord, as did seven or so criteria. I just feel like the Dr's are happy as long as I'm quiet and behaving.

I would push to be referred to a psychiatrist as GP can't diagnose. I have extreme and rapidly changing emotions, I basically have most of the criteria. Tbh though I don't think the diagnosis has helped, it hasn't impacted on my treatment and in some ways it's looked down upon.

I just feel marooned.

as pp said you need to see psychiatrist for a diagnosis ,
my diagnosis came as a shock-(psych calls it emotionally unstable)as i have lots of other conditions and thought symptoms were attributed to them .
i have been seeing mental health specialists forever and only recently been diagnosed but
my main mh condition is chronic severe ptsd and all that comes with it.

I was diagnosed bpd last summer, and I felt relieved to finally have an answer to the confused mess in my head!
I have all 9 traits, ptsd, I had pnd at the time.
Right now I am in a very low place, my head won't switch off and the feelings of emptiness are so bad I feel like I am drowning!
I refused dbt and was kind of left to it. I'm meant to see a woman every 9 weeks but I couldn't face going last week.
I'm on two doses of quetiapine , pregablin and citalapram and I am still a mess just 5 stone heavier!
I was told by my psychiatrist that if you think you have bpd and get that light bulb moment you most likely have it.

Thanks that's very useful. It was an interview on radio 5 last week.
