Getting help when there is no help

Rapidly falling apart and I just don't know where to turn for help.

Discharged from perinatal mental health team last June. 4 month admission to MBU.

Transferred to adult community team but given a 10 month wait for first appt so thought there wasn't much point. Therefore no crisis team access.

GP gone on long term sick.

HV not returned my call made last Thurs.

Shit I'm fucked aren't I? There is no way I'd go to a&e.

Hi, can you not self refer to crisis team in your area? The number should be available online or through your local hospital switchboard.

If you are struggling you need to ask for an urgent GP appointment, even if its not with your GP, there must be someone covering his sickness. Also keep chasing the HV, if shes off work someone else will be covering for urgent things, but might not realise your call was urgent. You can also ring 111 out of hours if its urgent, they have sent an on call GP out to my DH in the past.

Aww you poor thing. You can be referred directly to crisis via the GP, even if it's not your usual GP, get an appointment to speak to someone at your surgery.

It's dreadful that you got no support on discharge, but I'm not surprised about how rubbish MH services are any more as they're run on a shoe string and a prayer.

Having said that, if you're falling apart then you need help asap, and that will be easiest arranged through your GP surgery.

Ok I think I'll try crisis tonight and see what they say. Maybe they'll let me self refer as they "know" me. I might try GP tomorrow but I'm pretty crap with people I don't know.

Its such a shit and frustrating system.

hope crisis team are helpful. Have you got anyone who could go to the GP with you for moral support.
