My two will be going to my mum for as long as I can swing it (two weeks? four? as long as I can get away with) so that's stopping me from freaking out about initial feeding and all that crap. Any chance you could swing something similar with family or a mate?

I wish I could. My Mum is miles away and apart from working FT can't leave my nightmare 16yo sister on her own. We don't know anyone here really, so it is solely down to me and DP. When I had dd2, he went pretty much straight back to work and I had to deal with dd1, ds and newborn on my own after my 3rd CS and it took me ages to recover. He would need to be here this time.

Sorry to hear that. Are you def having a cs? If so, he doesn't have much choice as you can't lift existing baby (14 months?) and 3 yr old. He'll have to get time off work. So that's that sorted then Now, just think, by the time we're 35 we'll be free women...

zephyrcat · 03/03/2007 21:13

It will be a CS. If I can persuade them it'll be under GA too!! I think if he can promise he'll stop work to help that's some of the worry gone but I know what he's like...

Don't see him having much choice really, you're going to NEED him there like you said, otherwise you'll collapse and he'll have to take more time off (cheery I know, but he needs to be practical). How are you feeling physically? I mind a heavy 18 month old and am feeling the strain of lifting him, so am thinking of you with your baby. Have to go and wash dishes but will be around tomorrow. I'm normally a lurker though! x

Don't have any direct experience - just wanted to wish you luck whatever you decide.

If your dh is a bus driver, is there any chance he could work nights, and so be available for at least part of the day. Not ideal, but may take the pressure off a bit.

My aunt had a termination when she was pregnany many years ago. Felt spectacularly ill and really couldn't see how she could cope with the pregnancy as she was so sick and tired. Was told afterwards that she had been pregnant with twins - so extra dose of hormones if you see what I mean. She had really mixed emotions afterwards - I do think that if she'd known before the procedure that the reason she was so wiped out was because it was twins, she might have changed her mind. But then that would have resulted in her having twins on her own with no help and as an older mum. So she felt a strange mix of sadness and relief I think.

Do hope you manage to get better advice.

Physically I'm absolutely knackered!! Already!! Like pooka says - it's double everything isn't it?!

I don't know how I'll be able to carry dd2 and for that matter lift ds.
