For lots of reasons I stayed up crying last night. This morning I woke with my eyes stuck together and my eye lids are very swollen. I don't want DC to see my like this but his dad is bringing him back at 6pm this evening.

Does anyone know a way to get my eyes back to normal before then?

ice? poor you

charlieq · 21/02/2007 12:58

I always bathe mine in cold water and then use some sort of eye gel.

But a lot of people don't notice (especially dcs I think) if you seem otherwise OK (even when you're not )
hope you feel better soon.

Thank you SEA. I've been laying on the bed with cotton wool pads soaked in 'eye bright' over my eyes for a few hours but they aren't much better.

I'll give ice a go.

Poor you.

Cold spoons. Dip 2 spoons in the milk in your fridge, dry them off, and cup them over your eyes.

Plus

Had an allergic reaction to an eyeshado

Is a good excuse.

His dad will notice Charlie, and that is what's really worrying me. I don't want to talk to him about why I've been crying. I don't think I have any eye gel.

Colditz you've made me laugh. I'm not an eye-shadow type of girl so saying that would definetly make everyone notice that something is up with me. They'd think I'd lost my marbles. Good tip with the spoons thuogh.

Lying down won't help-you need to be up and about to allow the fluid to drain away.
Try damping some cotton wool pads then putting in the freezer-put them on your eyes whilst sitting upright.

Good luck.

PuffyEyes · 21/02/2007 13:08

I didn't know that whoosh. Cotton wool is freezing now.

Thanks GUM. I'm dabbing them with ice at the moment and they are feeling more comfortable and the swelling has gone down a bit. I'm going to get on with some h/w for a while and then I'll try the spoons/cucumber/teabags if they still look bad.

PuffyEyes, I don't know if this is safe or not and it may be pure fiction but in one of her novels Marian Keyes< main character uses preparation H for puffy eyes and it works brilliantly!

PuffyEyes · 21/02/2007 14:31

Lol - I suppose if it doesn't work I can always leave the tube on display and tell everyone that I've been crying because my piles are hurting so much.

They haven't gone down and I can't face going out to get anything. I'm going to phone ex-p and ask him to give DS his bath at his flat and bring him home and put him to bed. I'll say I'm feeling ill and be in bed when he gets here so he doesn't have to see me. He's still got a set of keys so I won't have to answer the door. I wish it was 6pm now so I could go to bed. Feel absolutely rotten

Say you've got an eye infection

colditz · 21/02/2007 15:46

But why are you sad, Puffyeyes?

PuffyEyes · 21/02/2007 16:00

I had a horrible night last night Colditz. I'm depressed and I started drinking. DS was at his dad's flat and I felt lonely. I just wanted to be in oblivion. I'm on such a downer today because of it.

How do you feel today Puffyeyes?

PuffyEyes · 22/02/2007 22:26

Much better thanks Whooosh. My eyes look normal again too.
