So even if you take it in the morning it affects your sleep?

itsgoodtobehome · 03/02/2017 09:51

Hi kione sorry you are having such a rough time. I can't imagine how hard it is with such a young baby.
I am taking mine in the evening around 7pm. I'm doing this because nausea seems to be my worst side effect, so I figured I could sleep through the worst of it. It hasn't really affected my sleep (so far) taking it at that time. At the moment, it's making me so tired that I could sleep just about anywhere, anytime. If it is affecting your sleep though, maybe try taking it around lunchtime?

Kione · 03/02/2017 10:16

Yes that is what I am going to do. I don't know how I can cope with even less sleep to what I was getting. Maybe morning so it has worn of by night.,,

Wadingthroughsoup · 03/02/2017 10:28

I've been really lucky with Sertraline I have previously been on Citalopram which I had various problems with. I think my only side effect with the Sertraline is jaw clenching which comes and goes. I take 200mg a day and I take it in the evening right before bed which works for me. I think it's an amazing drug! Thinking I should possibly try to lower my dose, as I don't feel I have any sort of 'safety net' if that makes sense?

Kione · 03/02/2017 14:22

See I've been on Citalopram with no big problems but I know Sertraline is better while breastfeeding so I asked for it.
Dr told me today to cut it in half and take it like that for a while

Kione · 03/02/2017 14:23

Not sure what you mean with "safety net" Wading!

fallenempires · 04/02/2017 14:39

I'm on day 2 & have been fine.I did however have to cut right down on citalopram before making the switch which was just horrid as it knocked me for 6!
How is everyone else getting on?

Kione · 04/02/2017 18:00

Yesterday I felt awful, cold sweats and faint feeling/anxiety.
I didn't take a tablet it last night and slept much better (the 3 hour chunk DD allowed me!) and I took half a tablet this morning as the second Dr suggester, which has been ok so far.

Kione · 04/02/2017 18:01

fallen I felt awful on my second day yesterday, so really good sign that you are fine, I think!

SadMumma · 04/02/2017 18:23

Day 4 and have felt relatively normal today. The jittery legs and clenching teeth has stopped and I actually feel quite chilled. The awful thoughts running around my head have stopped, so today had been a good day. I slept a bit better last night. I'm trying to take my tablet as early in the day as possible - 6.00 if I am awake, so that it has worn off by the evening. My appetite is still low. Is that normal?

Kione, are you taking yours in the morning now? Has today been better all in all? Is your DH able to look after the baby whilst you take a nap in the day?

I'm wondering if people consider cutting the tablet and taking half in the morning and half at night and whether that is recommended?

Kione · 04/02/2017 20:31

Yes Sadmumma I took half this morning (but that's only 25ml), and today has been much better.
DH can look after DS at weekends when he is around but to be honest we are so busy that it's frustrating trying to sleep. Much easier just to carry with life. He does however take him downstairs first thing in the morning so I can have a lie in, but I couldn't sleep anymore :(
I am glad you are feeling better!!
And yes I have read online that some people do that, cut it and take it twice. I am not sure maybe best to ask a dr or pharmacist.

Margaret1982uk · 05/02/2017 13:50

itsgoodtobehome · 05/02/2017 19:02

Sorry to hear that you are feeling worse Margaret. Has anything happened in the time that you have been taking the meds, or do you think it is the medication?
Glad to hear you are doing well Sadmumma. How are you getting on Kione?
I'm on day 5 and not sure what to think really. I'm taking the tablet at 7pm. I'm sleeping really well, but I feel really groggy in the day time. I could literally sleep all day. I start to feel better in the evening, but then it's time to take the next tablet. I don't know if taking it in the morning will make any difference - I'm worried that it will just make me more sleepy during the day.
I'm just hoping that these effects will wear off soon and I can hope to feel some of the benefits. Bit worried now though hearing that they haven't worked for Margaret.

Kione · 05/02/2017 20:04

I am feeling ok but still taking a very low dose. Tried to have a nap after lunch but couldn't. I'll see how tonight goes, am planning on sticking to them until next Wednesday on low dose when am seeing the dr and maybe then take a full tablet.
Mood wise I am crying less but weekends are slightly better with DP around and no school run.

fallenempires · 06/02/2017 13:15

Kione it's possibly been ok for me as I had reduced down on the citalopram before starting it.Give it time, but if you have any concerns do go back to your GP.
Margaret so sorry to hear that,I do hope that your GP offers an alternative that works for you.
Alfie how are you getting on?
it'sgoodtobehome When I first went back on AD's last year I deliberately chose a few q days to start the treatment as I knew that I would be wiped out to begin with.Your approach to taking them is a sensible one.
Wishing all the best to everyone I haven't mentioned.Flowers

SadMumma · 07/02/2017 16:16

Hi All, I've been off this thread for a couple of days as I have had a really bad time, shaking, feeling sick and very anxious and not been sleeping. I'm on Day 7 today. Just another 8 to go before I'm back to the doc and he will put me up to 100mg. That is what I did last time and 100mg worked for me, but not sure one can go straight onto it. My appetite has gone completely. I lost 5.5 lbs last week, so there's one good result!

Poor Margaret, I hope you find something to help you.
Kione - is life getting any better? You may have to get through two weeks though before you notice any difference.

Keep going everyone ..... Flowers

Kione · 13/02/2017 08:00

How is everyone? I am still taking half a tablet and doing ok.

GasLightShining · 14/02/2017 12:59

Not feeling any better but not feeling any worse!

Glad you are doing ok Kione

How is everyone else?

fallenempires · 14/02/2017 14:42

Gas how long have you been taking them for now?I'm on day 11 and beginning to get clarity in my head,so all good from my pov.
How's everyone else getting on?

GasLightShining · 14/02/2017 17:40

Been on them for 4 weeks. fallen

Alfiemoon1 · 15/02/2017 10:08

I was fine on them then kind of stopped taking it regularly not sure why as sort from a few days feeling a little to happy chatty in work I has no negative side effects. Had a bit of a melt down last night over valatines day of all things huge row with dh in which I draggged everything up again so I am back on them today still half a tablet. Which I need to increase once I've been on them for a full week. I am not sure if I am scared of negative side effects still as I seem to do a few days feel slightly better then stop and start a few days later. How is everyone else getting on ?

fallenempires · 15/02/2017 12:15

Gas not feeling any worse is at least a positive. When do you have your review date?
Alfie try if you can to build up to that full dose,if it will work for you as it appears to be doing for me then it will make a huge difference to your ability to cope.

Alfiemoon1 · 15/02/2017 12:22

Thanks fallen glad it's working for u. I know deep down I need these and don't know why I stop taking them after a few days then start again when I start feeling irrational.
