Cannot form an opinion and having debates in my head.

I used to be a very passionate person and could argue my side of an argument effectively, but for about a month now I have been finding it increasingly difficult to form an opinion about something.

I stay up debating things in my head and then go off and research the for and against but find myself sitting on the fence. Its keeping me awake at night.

It could be trivial stuff and it could be serious. Parenting methods, the line between being selfish and looking after yourself, the best diet to eat...

When having discussions I wont argue back as I can see both sides.

Is there a reason or a word for this?

Just getting older?

I have found I have more centred views about some things as I gain more experience- I can see/ understand the opposing views.

But not all things.

A little bit of self doubt goes a long way to stop you doing something stupid.

OTOH, this sounds like an underlying issue. Tell us more about what is going on in your life.

I don't really know what to say, I suppose I have a 'normal' life. WFHM self employed with 3 children.
I woke up at 5 debating with myself the ethics of abortion even though I'm not pregnant and have never wanted one. Then I couldn't get back to sleep.
Its like 2 voices in my head talking to each other but they are both my own.

A lot of things aren't black and white though, there may not be a right and a wrong answer to some issues.

It sounds like perhaps you are finding things to worry about for some reason - has there been any thing happen recently that you couldn't resolve as easily as you usually do, or was perhaps out of your control to do anything about?

I would say (from experience) that this sounds like anxiety and I would treat it as such.
