Bipolar mixed affective state.

So the other day I saw the psychiatrist.. At the end of the consultation he came up with the diagnosis of bipolar mixed effective states and ADHD.

At the moment we are treating only the mood stabilising.

However I'm confused really on what bipolar mixed affective state is? I thought it was either bipolar 1 or 2.. Does this sound stupid?

Can anyone explain this to me because Google is definitely confusing me lots.

It means you've got some features of mania and some features of depression at the same time I think.

Mot sounds like you have mixed manic and depressive symptoms. Like agitation and negative thoughts.

Hi, I have bipolar and this is how I present sometimes when I'm having an episode. I find it the worst kind of episode. Hypo/mania and depression together is really horrid. However, there is hope in the form of meds, I'm pretty stable on mine. Hope you feel better soon.
