Self Care Friday - Please Join Me

I've decided to make my Fridays into days of self care. My anxiety and depression means I don't always take very good care of myself. From reading other posts I know i'm not the only one.

So the only rule is that the things you chose to do should be genuinely helpful to you and not be harmful. (e.g. eating a tub of ice cream would be harmful to me)

So share todays goals and we can help each other along.

Mine are:

  1. Have a full shower (wash hair and shave) before 9am (DONE)
  2. Book car in for MOT (this is self care in the sense that not doing it has caused a lot of anxiety)
  3. Either paint my nails or pluck my eyebrows
  4. Clear out my handbag

That's a great idea. Good luck with your goals. I'll join you!

I've already done my main goals for today:

  • Go out and socialise in the morning instead of sitting by the computer.
  • Go to the gym.

Good goals for the rest of the day:

  • Cook a decent healthy dinner.
  • Take some time to listen to a new audio book in peace.

I like your list.

I didn't do my bag but did clear my car. Feeling pleased.

Well done with the car. I did what I planned to do, so I'm pleased with myself, too.

I hope your week has been a positive one on the whole. Will you be trying some positive self care this Friday, too?

My plan is to go to gym again, but not push myself too hard if I start feeling dizzy. I'm also going to get in touch with a friend, which I've been putting off because of random phone call anxiety. And I'll take some time to do some crochet, and will cook a healthy dinner again.

Yes. I am going to aim for it every Friday. Tomorrow will be crazy busy for me so I'm going to keep my tasks simple. First is practice my breathing exercise and not eat the pizza that will be at the Christmas party.

Thanks for following up. Enjoy chatting to your friend.

Great idea. I don't work Fridays for this purpose, it the only time in the week I have to myself. but I always end up working / responding to urgent emails and stressing about working when I shouldn't

Could we add, finding something to value in what we did this week?

It's easy to focus on the things we did wrong, or could have done better/sooner.....

Oh, I love your idea, OP, I'm in!
My list:

  1. veet them legs
  2. read
  3. listen to my positivity app thingy
  4. start re-listening to my mindfulness cd 5)watch a movie.
Fishcakey · 16/12/2016 15:22

This is a great idea. I am going to paint my toenails and wax my moustache!

WingsofNylon · 17/12/2016 17:39

So who managed to get through the list? Morphene, yes what a great idea. What's yours?

I only managed to listen to my positivity app out of the 5 items on my list :)

Oh2beatsea · 18/12/2016 19:56

What a great idea!! I used to always have Fridays off but don't now I have increased my hours at work. I shall try to squeeze it in elsewhere!

Morphene · 21/12/2016 14:36

I'm pretending its Friday today...because its my last day at work before Christmas - so this week I took time off because my DD wanted support going to the Doctors....instead of feeling crap because I missed time at work I am going to feel strong because I did something that made an actual solid difference to someone else's happiness :)
