Coming of medication/ weight

I want to come off my SSRIs. Has anyone got any experience of losing weight after stopping thier medication? Did it come of by itself in time or did you have to work at it by consciously cutting calories etc? I am certain my weight gain has come as a side effect of my medication.

Thank you

Hi happy
I was on them for 2 years and piled on about 2 stone, I imagine it may depend upon how old you are, I was in my mid forties. I also was more sedentary whilst on meds. When I came off the meds I slowly lost the weight, but through exercise and diet mainly. Unfortunately (for me) it didn't magically disappear overnight !

Thank you for replying to me. I was afraid you would say that :( Im already quite active as it helps my mood. Strict diet needed then i guess. I was hoping it would go as suddenly as it came!

I was also active whilst on meds, walking, swimming & gym but I found it hard to lose weight. I found it easier to lose weight after stopping meds but I keep a food diary religiously, it really helps (for me) and stops me going into chocolate denial Smile
