Any Self Harmers? 'Excuse' needed...

Ok, this will sound a bit silly but I need a believable 'explanation' for the scratches around my wrist...

I know I self harmed and shouldn't have done and I am getting help for it (medication & counselling but my mum is coming tomorrow to stay for a week and I really don't want to get into what I have done & why.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

If it helps, there is one biggish scratch on the inside of my wrist, 1 on the outside of my arm, a few small ones on my hand and 2 knuckles are damaged.

Really regretting this now...

pmsl.... sounds a typical tescos trip so

and i was wondering about the dh in the trolly!

littlemissnobody · 17/02/2007 15:20

Ha ha ha, sweatbean, lol at being IDed yesterday. If it makes you feel any better, the same thing happened to me and I am 29!

and at the trolley being hit by a car. Hope DD is ok. Enjoy your peaceful day - and I hope DD has a wonderful day tomorrow.

I'm ok today- scratches looking a bit better but I am very worried they will scar. I've never done it as badly as this. Feel a bit stupid about the whole thing now.

Off to meet my mum soon so time will tell how believable my pathetic excuse is. If I thought she'd take the truth well, I'd tell her but she'll flip out and will worry unnecessarily! Mothers!!!

Try this cocoa butter lotion on your scars.
Keeping them moisturised seemed to help mine heal better

littlemissnobody · 18/02/2007 02:53

Will get some of that cocoa butter stuff in the morning, thanks!

Just read all this thread. I empathise with so many of you on here, although over the past year or so I have generally found another release. Alcohol. But I also use ice. (I second cocoa butter btw for scars and itching)

I do hope it goes ok with your mum littlemiss. Do let us know. {{{{hugs}}}}

I have thick welt-type scars up my arms, about 5 or 6 (oddly even though it's my body I don't stare at them and can't remember)

I tell people I walked through a glass window. Most are daft enough to believe me.

DeputyMacDawg · 18/02/2007 17:08

It was mentioned earlier in the thread, but if it's a big/deep cut try using strips of Micropore/plaster like stitches to hold the edges of the cut together. Helps minimise scarring, but needs to be done when the cut is fresh.

Thank you all... your advice was very gratefully recieved (and the excuses worked, I think).

The cocoa-butter stuff is wonderful, thank you.

Bio-oil is also very good for scarring, and would highly recommend it. It has to be used regularly (ie every day) but can make a real difference x

Okay.. so my thing is I do it in different places. So it’s not on my wrists, usually just my hip, but stupid me, did it by my elbow, I’ve got plasters on it, but I have to get changed in front of people (my.. “friends.”) and I know they will ask, what do I do?

also please stop sh, I know it’s hard but help is available,
