Severe PMT!

A week before my period I suffer with the most incredible RAGE.

To the point I can't control my temper, mood and behaviour!

I'm 39. I can't go on like this, it's ruining everything.

Can anyone help with any tips, advice on maybe how I get this under control, ideally not GP route but if that's my option then so be it.

It's becoming unmanageable Sad

I used to suffer from terrible PMT. I found that exercise helped and cutting down on carbs. However, what really helped was being diagnosed with hypothyroidism, since I've been getting treatment and it is under control the PMT has improved massively - I get irritable now, rather than losing it completely. Having said that, I had no idea that the PMT had anything to do with the thyroid problems until it stopped IYSWIM? So, seeing your GP to find out if they can help might be a good idea.

Gosh that is exactly how I feel, the rage, the total losing it, you can't reason with me :(

Ok - maybe a trip to the GP is a 1st point.

A healthier lifestyle would also likely help.

Viscous circle :(

Hi, I had this, look into vitamin b6. You need 100mg though so ask for it behind the counter, not on the shelf as the dosage is too low. I found within 12 hours of taking this, the rage would fade away. I only took it for a few days a month as it is linked to damage to the nervous system if taken at this high dosage for long periods of time. Do some research for your self and see if this helps you.

My mother had this - it was like living with Jekyll and Hyde - pretty grim for a child. I do hope you find a good treatment.

I've got Vit B6 purchased yesterday at 100mg, and Angus Cactus (or whatever it's called!) so going to give it a go.

Pretty down today, don't think that's PMT related thou Sad

As well as B6 and Agnus castus drinking raspberry leaf tea while you are full of RAGE can help, I was told to drink loads of it. If I take the vitamins and also eat more protein then I'm fine. I have been lax this month and have really notice a difference.

you can be prescribed the mini-pill (so your periods stop) for this reason. Worth asking your GP if it's really bad.

I've been put on sertraline for my hideous pmt. Hoping it works for the extra cycle as I can't go on how I was.

I tried setraline, sent me insane, worse!

Hope it works for you

Magnesium supplements really help. There is a book called Beating PMS with Diet, can't remember who it's by, but it became my bible for a while.
