mirtazipine anyone?

Just been placed in this (15mg per day) so it's the min dose and it's only my 3rd dosage taken an hour ago, but I'm so tired all the time. Only get my get up and go back around midday.

Us this normal?

Falling asleep as I write!

When I started taking Mirtazapine, I felt like a zombie for the first three days. I had never felt so tired before! This did settle though and I started to feel much less tired. The only real issue I had was weight gain. It made me so hungry all the time. I don't think this happens to everyone though.
I'm currently trying to decide whether to stop taking it because of the weight gain.

My mum takes it at night so she wakes up fresh in the morning, stops you getting the hunger pangs from it tol

Hi yes I have been prescribed this about 4/5 months go. I take mine at night because feeling like a zombie though the day is a bloody joke! Try taking it at night it should also help you sleep

you're meant to take it literally just before you go to bed as it should make you sleepy. It seems that those that prescribe it aren't always very good at telling people this. I take it at 10pm or later.

Agree, I was actually prescribed it for insomnia, and it has really helped. Take before bed

My DH has mitrazapine and when he first started taking it he was totally shattered - he takes them before bed too now and seems much better on them :)

I am taking it before bed! That's the problem. I was prescribed it to help my sleep issues as well as my depression but I wake up at 5am (not my choice) and am feeling like a zombie still.

Minutes after I posted last night I was well out of it and snoring away, (apparently)...

I have to drive this morning but I'm still too sleepy to drive :(

i take as i go to bed, (10 ish) bleary eyed in the morning for about hour ,i get up 7 am
but fine during day, no weight gain .
im only on 7.5mg as im very sensitive to medication.
every medication i try ,i have to try half adult dosage first and even fail that dosage on most of them.

it knocked me flat for the first 3 or 4 days - I cried a lot as was so tired I didn't know what to do!

I've lost weight on it. I've been trying desperately and unsuccessfully to lose 3.5 stone of quetiapine (and ice cream since getting sober 2 years ago!) weight. since I started the mirtazapine I've lost a stone without really trying - it seems to have turned the binge-eating down.

I take Venlafaxine and quetiapine alongside mirtazapine. I have felt better since swapping to it from pregablin, once the side effects settled. quetiapine and mirtazapine together at night as it makes me very dizzy.

ah the time post on the original message was before 9pm…I was assuming uk time which would mean that you would have been taking it 8pm?

Your body will get used to it so the sleepiness in the morning thing won't last forever.

I took it about 14 years ago and was a wreck for the first couple of days, got up for work the day after I first took it and fainted in the shower! It does get better, your body gets used to it and you're more awake in the mornings.

I did put on a fair bit of weight with it though, it was prescribed for depression, insomnia and loss of appetite relating to the depression in my case. I got my appetite back pretty damn quick!

I'm up at 5am (or earlier) so taking it around take it around 8 pm so be out for 9:30pm
