my gp said this is good for anxiety and panic attacks. im on citalopram but hate it. he might put me on this see how it goes. only been on citaloprm for 1 month. i am reluctant to go on an old type AD, side effects, addictive etc.

i found it to be a revelation, took it 3 years ago after 4 1/2 years of depression..worked fantastically for me...after trying lots of others

what were the side effects like? was it hard to come off? when i say new i mean an ssri type AD, they are the new one i believe. only going by what i overheard while waiting for my prescription.

Been on Venlafaxine for 4 years. Is fab. No side effects. About to start to talk to doc/psychiatrist about coming off it. Have to do it slowly, reducing the does very gradually. It worked for anxiety and panic attacks for me.

it is an SSRI

coming of it took almost 3 months....had some nausea, bad headaches, including a migraine..which i have never had before...some vomiting, but that was in the first weeks...then calmed down......

but it rid me of depression ( in conjunction with intensive threapy ) and i have been off the tablets over 2 years with no recurrence

recurrence of the depression

Hi

Don't want to scare you but I was put on this and had extreme side effects which resulted in me being admitted to hospital. They are also extremely addictive so realy hard to come off. I had to reduce my dose gradually and take anti sickness tablets but it was hellish. Did nothing for me but then I have friends who swear by it and have had no side effects. Its like all ads there are some risks but when you find the right one for you its a god send. Also everyone one is different so what works for one doesn't work for another. Good luck and I hope they work for you
