whats the difference between citalopram & escitalopram?

Lizalu mentioned a different ingredient. i am just curious why i had such awful side effects on citalopram but hardly any on the latter.
anyone else have any knowledge on these two drugs?

i think that escitalopram is meant to be a more refined version of citalopram, so presumably whatever they have left out was what was giving you the bad side effects!
