citalopram

I've been put on citalopram today and reading stuff online I'm worried to take them. I want tablets to help me not spiral me down first then get me better.
can anyone tell me they work fine

Still on them, 5+ years later.

Took the edge off crippling anxiety after about day 3 and much better within a couple of weeks. It's worth it.

I felt better after only a few days. They did give me a few drunk days in the first few weeks. Very spacey. I didn't feel suicidal, but do remember a few days of added anxiety. Felt like I was tripping. It was OK though, DH just kept an eye on me and look after dc.

I've been on them 2 months now and want to come off them. They've improved my mood but most days I feel like I've been hit by a truck. They've zombified me too much. It's very hard to function.

Everyone reacts differently to all ads, but it's good to know some of the common things to look out for. This drug has been a real roller coaster for me.

he's only gave me enough for 2 weeks to see how I cope which I'm grateful for. hopefully I'll be fine with them.

I was on them and they really helped me. I had a few odd side effects weird feeling in my mouth/ jaw but that was honest the worst of it. And that only lasted 10 days or so. I would try them Good luck

Also felt terrified with worry when I first had them. Refused to read the patient info - gave it to do and told him to tell me anything I really needed to know.

Felt an improvement within a week or two, no side-effects other than an attack of vertigo (which might just have been a coincidence). After a month I felt like myself, like the me I used to be, not like I was medicated at all.

At 6m the GP wanted to start weaning me off them, but I got so anxious about it that he backed off!

I am so pleased that was able to find the right medication for me at first attempt. I don't look back at all.

I started taking citalopram a week and a half ago. The first week was horrible. So drowsy and felt drugged and sick. Today has been really good. Yes I am yawning more than usual but I'm much less anxious. Little things are not winding me up the way they used too. I feel like I can deal with life a little better.

a few hours after taking them I felt so heavy sick and really out of it. I can't stop yawning so thinking I might take it at the night from now on. tiredness and dizziness is The killer. I swear my LO knew I was high cause he kept smiling at me haha.

I started taking it at night and then had to switch to the morning as it was interfering with my sleep. I would stick with it. I feel so much better now.

I've been on them for a year, good God what a difference! I'd hit the bottom with anxiety when I started on them, but not only have they got me back to the "normal" I had been living since post dc, but the rational person I should be, wish I'd got them years ago!

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about the yawning. It last less than a month.

I always take mine with breakfast, but some people find they have an immediate effect so prefer to take them at bedtime.

I take mine in the morning. Don't remember any side effects at all.
One day at about 3 weeks in I realised I felt much better.

the feeling once they hit you is weird. it's a new sensation I don't know how to explain it. hope I don't have this feeling all the time.

Has anyone tried taking them at bedtime so sleep through any side effects - I have heard you can do this?

Was on them about 16 years ago for what the gp called "moderate depression." They were amazing for me. No side effects (I increased them gradually) and felt a lot better (more my old self) after about a week and a half. Was on them 6 months and gradually cut down the dose and I was off them. Have never had any episodes of depression since, even with 2 pregnancies.

I had great success with citalopram. The side effects were tough for a few weeks but they did subside eventually. Stick with it and I hope you feel better soon.

I took them at night to sleep through as much of the weirdness as possible. You will have some very, very vivid dreams!

I took them briefly years ago and they worked well however I had a dip a few months after I stopped taking them and I took one just before bed. I didn't get up until 4 pm the next day I couldn't even wake up to ring work! Not taken them since

I've been on them for 8 years and can't remember the side effects from when I started them. Took mirtazipine as a teenager and that knocked me for six, the citalopram was a walk in the park in comparison! They've been a godsend to me.

I was on them until June last year for PND and thought they were amazing. I had side effects for a few days (headaches, nausea and a very very dry mouth) but they soon calmed down and I was fine. I took mine in the evening with a couple of biscuits as that was the only way I could control the nausea.
