Does Prozac cause bruxism for you?

Hi all,
I am feeling really down and anxious, and am thinking of asking my GP to prescribe some fluoxetine (Prozac) to get me through the next couple of months.

I was just reading about the side effects of Prozac and found out that it can cause bruxism/teeth grinding or jaw clenching in some people at night when they are asleep?

Have any of you experienced this while on Prozac?

This worries me because I have painful TMJs and it is likely to make my depression worse! Please help?

Pan

Hi Pan. All of the SSRIs that I've been on have caused bruxism for me, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll get that. It's still worth speaking to your GP, maybe there is an alternative AD s/he can suggest which doesn't have this side effect? Take care.
