Had an abortion you regret?

A friend has just told me about an abortion she had recently - she wanted the baby but her circumstances were just not right to have another baby. (she already has children).

No she doesn't feel like she can move on and seems to be really beating herself up about it.

I really don't know what to say to her - everything that comes out just sounds rubbish. She hasn't had any counciling - would this help?

Anyone had any useful experiences?

yep me. 2 years on, tomorrow im finally going to get specialist help. My advice would be get help asap ~ I think BPAS offer post abortion couselling, and possibly Youthline (that what HV found out) but someone recommended Careconfidential for post-abortion couselling. Im now suffering PTSD (the abortion mixed with other things) and am getting help with that, but not sure how specialised any therapy will be. Really do try and get her to get help asap. Specialist aswell Id say, because "other" therapists and cousellors aren't trained realy for that specifically, and they can say hurtful things because they are naive to it.

i do think counselling would help, if she can bring herself to do it. i dont know anything positive to say coz its such a personal thing... theres no way anyone can know what she needs to hear... counselling a v good idea i think.

BPAS there's the website, I can't find out about their couselling, but, Im pretty sure they do it. They charge £60 a session though, free if you have the abortion with them.
