Failed IVF, Gedarel and hormonal imbalance

My partner is recovering from a failed IVF cycle several months ago which has affected her mental health quite severely. I noticed during the IVF treatment that she seemed particularly acutely affected by the high dosage of progesterone she was on. Since the treatment, her PMS has been much worse, to the point where this month her GP has put her on Gedarel to try to balance her hormones. However, in the last few days she has taken a real turn for the worse. I suspect that she might be very sensitive to progesterone and that the Gedarel is therefore making things worse rather than better.

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced worse PMS after IVF treatment and/or a similar reaction to Gedarel.

Also, what other things could she try in order to balance her hormone levels?

Can you say what you mean by your partner "taking a real turn for the worse" - I don't know anything about hormone imbalance but am wondering whether she may be depressed following the failed IVF cycle.

Yes, definitely suffering from depression following the failed IVF, no question about that, and she's having treatment for it. It's just that within that there is such a clear four-weekly cycle, like someone flicking a switch every month. And more recently she had been so very much better that this last change - the first period since she began taking Gedarel - has been very dramatic. My theory is that somehow she has become much more sensitive to hormones as a result of taking such large doses of them during the IVF, but I'm not sure how much research has been done in this area and whether this is a recognised phenomenon.
