It's a wonderful drug has helped me a lot. Please don't be put off by this thread if you are starting it.

Am doing better and am in the process of lowering doses. Gp is supportive but fairly clueless. I have a good deal of knowledge on how it works and the difficulties of coming off but moral support would be good.

I was on 300. Dropped straight to 225 and that went well. No problems.

After a few weeks went from 225 to 150 and day one was actually ok. Buy today have had a few brain zap type things and been really sleepy.

Trying to decide between perseverance with 150. Or trying to split tablet a bit and do somewhere in between 150 and 225 for a week or so.

Any ideas? When I came off years ago I had the cups les and so could pour some beads out. That worked. And dr was happy with how it went. Am on tablets now though. I suppose I could ask for capsules while coming off? Only reason am on tabs is that it is cheaper than capsules.

I have come off Venlafaxine twice and both times I broke up the tables to eek it out a bit longer because the side effects were really unpleasant. In the end I was taking a tiny crumble every other day but it did mean I came off successfully. I should add that each time I have been on the slow release capsules and then gone down to the tablets as the capsules don't seem to be available for under 75mg.
