Psychiatrist prescribe don't they?

My first appointment. Just wanted to check how it works. My anxiety is terrible and my GP meds are not helping at all. For those of you who have psychiatrists what happened at your first appointment?

He asked all about my background and we agreed I was Hyponmanic and he prescibed me meds that day with an appointment to see him 3 days later. We then changed my meds and eventually I changed to weekly appointments, then now as I am stable we have moved from monthly to 3 monthly meetings.

Good luck

Mine prescribed me a different drug and said he'd see me in a couple of months.

Mine discussed hospitalisation with me and DH and prescribed me new meds. I saw him weekly for a few weeks, then fortnightly, then as needed. He's not keen to label me with a diagnosis beyond the acute ED which frustrates me, but ultimately I figure he's the expert.

It took a number of drugs before we found one that fits. Which was frustrating on private prescriptions!
