I have been feeling shitty for a while, gradually getting worse until I worked up courage to go to my gp today. I have been prescribed fluoxetine.

I am due back at work from maternity leave on Monday. I'm feeling incredibly anxious about it, not so much about leaving ds2 (11months), but i feel I won't be any good at my job anymore. Is starting the tablets at the same time as returning to work a recipe for disaster? The gp said they can make you feel worse to begin with.

Also ds2 doesn't sleep well, I can be up anything between 3 and 6 times a night, doc said this would be fine to take a wouldn't interfere with sleep but the experiences I've read on here are different.

DH is on flouxetine after about 6 months of having been on citalopram. It has really made a difference and he is now sleeping well and the mood swings we once endured are now a thing of the past. Maybe returning to work will actually better your mood giving you new focus and after the initial anxieties about returned to work are unfounded you can settle into a new routine. Hope everything goes well x
