i was in a stressful situation today at college where the tutor asked me a question in front of the rest of the class and i started panicking because i wasn't sure of the answer. i started shaking and sweating so i am thinking i need a stronger AD. the 10mg escitalopram seemed to work at first but it didn't work for me today, or am i expecting miracles. it's only been 3 weeks since i started taking them. shall i persevere or go back to the GP for a stronger dose? i only seem to break out in sweats in social situations or situations when i am put on the spot so to speak.
excuse my rubbish grammar and rushed typing but i am juggling between this site and doing my preparation for my presentation tomorrow.
this site is more important

hi alexa1. when i started on my ads i began on 50mg (sertraline) and felt a lot better after a couple of weeks but then if anything, i actually felt worse. rang my gp in an awful state and she said that this is quite common, your body gets the initial benefit, but then it quickly becomes accustomed to the relatively small dose and so you need a bit more. so she put me up to 100mg and i was right as rain again after a few days!
don't worry, it's just a case of finding the right dose for you, and indeed the right ads.
good luck!

ps, i had horrendous "social sweating" too and that also gone. hurrah!!

alexa1 · 21/11/2006 19:19

wow bobobobs - u are the first person who has said they get social sweating aswell. i was beginning to think i was abnormal.

oh no, i think most people who have "social sweating" are just so mortified that they never mention it!!

alexa1 · 21/11/2006 19:24

my sweating gets so bad that i am restricted to what type/colour clothing i can wear. it's so embarassing.

bobobobs do you have side effects....embarrassing ones? i am supposed to be taking 100 mg sertaline but have stuck at 50mgs ( not great) because of distressing side effect!

bobobobs · 21/11/2006 19:28

snap, snap, snap!!!
hopefully with the ads it will get better for you, then you can wear whatever you like without worrying!

bobobobs · 21/11/2006 19:29

NotanOtter - what side effects, don't be coy!!

NotAnOtter · 21/11/2006 19:30

well in the leaflet it says its a mans problem but i suffer it too.....

bobobobs · 21/11/2006 19:32

trumping? not putting the loo seat down? selective deafness?
or do you mean low libido..?

bobobobs · 21/11/2006 19:47

sorry notanotter, didn't mean to be flippant and offend you!

NotAnOtter · 21/11/2006 19:49

none of those! you obviously dont suffer from it then...

bobobobs · 21/11/2006 19:53

i may do, just not sure which one it is!

bobobobs · 22/11/2006 23:26

Hi alexa1, have you had any more thoughts about going back to your gp and asking about your dose?

NotanOtter - you have me intrigued about the side effects. i have just come off the mirena coil which gave me a whole host of nasty side effects, so i don't know which are from the ads and which are from that. i do hope you aren't upset that i am curious about your sertraline side effects, i am just interested to see if i have experienced the same. perhaps it is too personal to post here, if so please feel free to CAT me.
