The biggest lie ever: 'ask for help'

There is none.
Utterly pointless. A waste of the time, and tiny amount of energy I have left.
Don't bother. Family and friends can hold you, which is good, but there's nothing out there.

There is - it's just not always easy to find. If I hadn't got it from professionals, friends and family, I wouldn't be here now.

What kind of help are you seeking?

Smartleatherbag · 08/07/2015 11:35

I had a breakdown 18mths ago. I see psychiatrist for 15 mins every two months. I saw a cpn for 8 sessions which were erratic and useless. That is the quota here on NHS. I have several meds. I still feel awful. Nothing left

It seems increasingly pointless to continue to try.

I agree.
There's very little available.
I have been forgotten about several times by the cmht. I have to chase up the psychiatrist for an appointment, which I am rarely well enough to do, so I'm on my own.

Shit isn't it?

thatsshallot · 08/07/2015 12:23

smartleatherbag do you have an advocate? I think if you fight there is some help available, the problem is the ones that need help have no fight left:(

Do you have a CPN still? Can they help you find out where you are supposed to go next?

I really hope you can access some support soon, you sound exhausted

mammabmamma · 08/07/2015 17:53

Exactly how I feel right now

Smartleatherbag · 08/07/2015 18:17

Appreciate your replies.
It's just too much effort.
I'm constantly fire fighting. There's only so long I can keep this up. I'm regularly od ing on pain meds (opiates, legal ones ) to try to feel something and to keep functioning.
I eat well, don't drink or smoke and I excersise. Makes fuck all difference

Where abouts are you?

meglet · 08/07/2015 19:32

I agree. There is almost no MH help. I asked for 3 years and eventually had an appointment with a counsellor who couldn't counsel her way out of a paper bag Hmm .

On the other hand I only have to mention a physical ailment to my gp and they can't be more helpful.

djrmrcbhyvf · 08/07/2015 23:52

Worse still is when they make things up to avoid giving you what little there is :(

Smartleatherbag · 09/07/2015 11:28

My gp is lovely, to give him his due, but there's nothing

In my experience ask for help and get made worse. Worst mistake ever asking for help. I know what you mean about it being a waste of energy. It also left me feeling worse just because before you ask for help you have some hope that there's some there to fall back on. After you've asked you know you're on your own or even worse fighting people who will only make you worse.
