Travel insurance help please

Does any body now if I need to worry ticking yes to anxiety but no to depression. Dd has been previously admitted to hospital with deliberate self harm but her diagnosis says mood symptoms of low mood and anxiety. If I tick yes to depression it asks about hospital
admissions but anxiety does not. Thanks

I can't get insurance for her if I put depression but can for anxiety just worried they won't pay out if she needs psychiatric treatment abroad.

If your daughter has been diagnosed with low mood, self harms and has been in hospital the insurance company most likely won't pay out in the event of a claim. If your daughter was ill for depression or similar on holiday they could request info from her GP as a condition of settling the claim. Omission of relevant facts would invalidate your insurance.
TBH I think you could end up with worthless insurance and a massive bill if she was seriously ill.
I think you can get insurance but have to pay a higher premium and may be use a specialist insurer. It will cost more, but less than being hit with a hefty medical bill.

The problem is that if you are found to have not declared a condition, it will invalidate your policy completely. This means they could refuse to pay out for medical care for anything, even if it's for something completely unrelated. You can probably get cover for MI, but at a cost. Or you can declare the condition but accept that you will not be covered for any MI treatment.

Where are you going? That makes a big difference.

Ps. I don't think you can get away with denying a depression diagnosis. As Previous poster says, it sounds pretty clear cut. I'm sure you're aware that insurance companies will do everything they can to not pay out so expect that they would find out about the depression diagnosis if you claimed.

Thanks for advice, that's what I am worried about the whole thing being invalid. However it does have anxiety listed as a separate condition and that's what she has. Her self harming is because she is anxious not depressed. However the depression questions specifically ask about admissions anxiety does not.
As she has only last week being diagnosed with a heart murmur she has too many conditions ( also hypermobile) and becomes uninsurable even though her heart murmur is most likely innocent as she hasn't had an echo
yet I have to list it as " ongoing investigations".
I don't care if the insurance runs into hundreds I just can't find anyone that will insure with both conditions.
There are insurance companies that will insure with pre existing conditions but not a 16 year old travelling alone. She is going to Australia ( to stay with family she will be met at airport am not sending my dd across the world to holiday alone!) just really stressing as I can't let he go with no insurance!

Sorry, I accidentally hit post. I will try to have a quick rummage around the net & come back. I remember a couple of insurance companies that seemed quite good.

Thank scissors, yes she will be ok travelling her anxiety is very much linked with school and the possibility of seeing local teens in the area. She has had a horrible year with both severe bullying at school and on social media.

That's why she is meant to be going to Australia to give her something to look forward to after her GCSE's.
