Is it possible to make yourself a positive person?

I suffer with anxiety and depression. Which is why ive put this here as i think it links in. I am also a very negative person (even when I'm stable). My parents are very negative and were whilst I was a child so I think a lot of it is learnt behaviour. How can I change it, my eldest dd is starting to become the same way and I want to change and help her become more positive (hoping to lead by example).
Has anyone managed to do it? I've had cbt in the past but maybe I need it again?

I think it is possible. It requires a lot of effort but looking on the positive side is a habit that can be learned imo. Not sure what the most effective way of "learning" would be though so watching this thread with interest.

Can I ask, in what way are you negative?
The thinking behind my question is to try and understand if you see things in a negative way or only focus on the negative things in life?
