Fluoxetine and sooo sleepy

Just looking for some reassurance. I've taken fluoxetine on and off for years. A few weeks ago I ran out of tablets and missed a week (I know, I know, very stupid) anyhoo I've been back taking them for 2 weeks now and I just feel so sleepy. My body's fine, but my head is heavy and my eyes feel like they're on sticks. I've no motivation and I'm falling asleep on sofa at 8.30pm!
I suppose I thought that just missing a week would make it easy to just start again with no side effects, but it feels like I'm back to a slow build up again with lots of lovely side effects.
I don't remember feeling this rubbish before (but then I was more depressed when starting them so put the tiredness down to that) so I'm a bit worried.
Does anyone have any experience of drowsiness when first taking them and how long did it last. Thanks so much.

Hello:) I've been taking fluoxetine 20mg since October for anxiety and ocd ( health anxiety and ocd for cleaning!) Also taking 5mg diaz and painkillers for horrendous sciatica.
Went to see a locum GP on 12th March as I found out my ds who is 12 and has aspergers is being bullied at school:(

She suggested increasing/doubling my dose to 40mg and said I shouldn't really get any side effects, I have though.

Originally in October, I was beyond exhausted, appetite up and down and literally ached. It improved around week 4, I wasn't expecting this feeling again.
It's been 19 days today and I feel awful. Panicking myself , feel like I can't breathe,(health anxiety majorly increased) and I'm going to see GP tomorrow. I want to reduce the dose.

Keep posting please, it helps to have support, I haven't really got any.

I had a bad blip last year so I increased my dosage to 40mg and I felt pretty bad for a good month. Like a zombie, a panicky zombie. Very odd. So I came back down to 20mg and felt so much better within a week. I guess the 20mg is the dose for me. Health anxiety is rubbish. I'm convinced I always have some deep down disabling illness waiting to strike. Crazy! I have a good GP and a lovely DH which helps a lot. Take care Flowers

Sorry I mean to say that the bullying issue with your son is awful. You just feel so helpless. I hope the school can help and it's just a temporary thing.

Hmm, I have been on 40mg since about September last year; I am struggling with exhaustion wanting to be in bed by 8.30 as well. My GP said Fluoxetine is not one of the ADs which will cause tiredness, but blood tests have come back clear for anything else ConfusedHmm
