Im on 225mg lyrica twice a day and i think im addicted, i get a 4 week prescription and im usually ran out by week 2, If I dont have lyrica I simply cannot function. Ive even 'lost' my medication in order to get another script but have warned i can only do this once, i think my family are starting to notice a pattern (2weeks happy, 2weeks i cut everyone off) its taken over my life all i can think about is getting lyrica, does anyone else have these issues with this drug?

I am supposed to be on 600 mg per day but can only take half of it because of side effects. It makes me drowsy and dries my mouth. I find it helps me but it is difficult because of the side effects...

Place marking as I'm interested as my psychiatrist suggested this at last appt.

Can you explain a bit more clearly pearisboils? Are you prescribed 225mg lyrica twice a day but take more of it so you run out?

Are you able to say what you take it for? Do you think the dose should be higher and so you take more? Either way, you need to speak to the doctor about this asap. You will feel much better if you can work out a way to take it for it's designed purpose, and not have two weeks feeling good and two weeks feeling bad.

Lyrica is very addictive, I once took it off-label (but prescribed by a pain clinic) for chronic pain. It didn't work for me as my pain levels vary and as a drug it's very intolerant of med. levels changing in response. However, I never took more than the prescribed levels, so didn't have the problems you've experienced. Also, you need to bear in mind that it made me put on quite a bit of weight that I've never managed to lose (10 years later) - fortunately I wasn't overweight to start with. It seems to have a permanent effect on many people's metabolic rates.

You REALLY need to talk to whichever doctor put you on this and tell them you're taking above the prescribed dose.

I've been searching for threads on Lyrica so reading this is very interesting. I've just been prescribed it for nerve pain but haven't yet plucked up the courage to take it. Have spent ages reading the list of side effects and am terrified.

Hope I hear some positive stories soon as I'm starting to run out of other painkiller options.
