How to get under crisis team etc?

My cpn doesn't want to refer me to crisis team, even though I feel I should be. Can gp refer you even if you are under cmht?

No, in my area that wouldnt be possible. However, he could raise concerns with your CPN. I know the CT is my area has strict rules about when they will take somone on, too. Going to a & e if you're in crisis and feel in danger may enable you to see the on duty pdoc and speak to someone on the crisis team.

I'm under them atm and it's because I presented at A&E feeling suicidal. I had been under them before but knew it was hard to "self refer" and felt ill enough that it was either going to be the crisis team or hospital/an inpatient ward for me. Hope you feel better soon

Thanks! I am pretty unwell and haven't been totally honest, because of fear of hospital. I am about to meet cpn soon.

Rambo I think you definitely need to be honest with your CPN. They do everything they can to keep you out of hospital because of the lack of beds and MH being under resourced generally. I'm a bit puzzled because I thought if you were in secondary care in the sense you have a CPN (and presumably oversight by a psychiatrist?) that you could automatically call the crisis team. Mind from what I hear they aren't able to be of much help and I suppose when we are really crap, there is not a lot anyone can do to help, well that's how it seems sometimes.

My CPN is due in about an hour so I'll ask her!

Here one can't call crisis directly. I saw other cpn than my usual and I was told that I am now on stepped-up care, where they visit me more often. Somebody is visiting me again tomorrow. I got some numbers to call after working hours if needed.

How did it go?

It went ok. He was helpful. I was able to tell a bit more about my suicidal thoughts. It helps that I am seeing somebody tomorrow and can call them as well

Here the crisis and cmht are getting together in away that cmht care is available in the evenings and weekends.
