Does any one take Argomelatine please?

I am thinking of switching to a new AD due to side effects on Flouxetine. Argomelatine is a fairly new AD which acts on Melatonin to help with sleep. Last time I mentioned it to my GP she hadn't even heard of it but that was a couple of years ago now.
I understand it is more expensive than other AD but would like to give it a try.
Anyone have any experiences please

Hi, I have been on this for a week now. So far I've not seen any improvement in my mood, but it's very early days. However, I've had precisely 0 side effects which is great as I've had to change ADs so many times due to bad side effects.

I've been taking it since Nov 2013. It's been fantastic--I have bipolar and it's the one AD that hasn't sent me high and no side effects. However it's very expensive. I'm in Scotland, where the NHS refuses to fund it. I got lucky as I had a locum pdoc who didn't know this. By the time the mistake was recognised, I'd been in it two months and it had turned my life around. NHS scotland agreed to a special funding arrangement for me, thank goodness.

Ps you do need liver function test before starting and every few months after that.

That's 2 very positive stories. I understand it is more expensive than other AD plus you need the blood tests as well. I am on Fluoxetine at the moment but some of the side effects are getting me down. AM is supposed to help with sleep as well I think

It is supposed to help with sleep. I'm not sure whether it does with me as I also take Quetiapine, which is a sleep-wonder. I've certainly not found the Agomelatine sedating. I know it's really important to take it at night because it works on melatonin. Apparently if ,you take it at any other time of the day, it doesn't work. This has presented a problem for me when I've been travellingmy pdoc believes that the jet lag affects the effectiveness of the Agomelatine (because I take it at bed time when abroad, but my brain is still on UK time and therefoer doesn't register it.). Every time I've travelled abroad, ive ended up depressed. This is just a theory on the part of my pdoche said that not much reseearch has been done..

What's Quetapine like for sleep? I take Amitriptaline but think it has stopped working slightly and think is makes me feel tired during the day.

Quetiapine is strong, strong stuff when it comes to sleep. I take it as a mood stabilizer for bipolar. Very strong sedative. Wouldn't be normally prescribed otherwise, although have heard of people taking 25mg for sleep.

yes, quetiapine gives me a good night's sleep; it's mainly for my rumination etc. apparently.
