Wording in cards

I've just found out that the father of a friend of mine is in hospital receiving treatment for a mental illness. I have always been very very close to her parents. I would like to send a card to her mother and also a card to her father. I am unsure of what to write in the cards. Please can anyone offer me any advice - if you have received such cards, what words did you find comforting in any way or is it ok just to write that I am thinking of you (to her mother?). What would you advise I write to her father? Thank you very much.

just 'thinking of you' would be lovely, for both of them. when I was on a psychiatric ward I had a couple of cards, and I really appreciated them.

it's a kind thing to do.

Thank you very much, that's what I'll do.
