Have you ever completely lost all confidence?

I was in a bit of a bad relationship (had to walk on egg shells and be very vocal about my affections to avoid a emotional rows etc.) and things were not going well at work and I feel like I have lost all confidence.

I dwell so much on things I have done and said. I often try to be fun and a little sarcastic but later I worry about how offensive it may have been. I am also finding it hard to challenge others or state my opinion for fear of upsetting people.

I am questioning everything I do, wondering if I did it right and thinking it could be better. I don't think this is any way to live.

On the odd occasion I do something with confidence and pride I feel as though I may be perceived as arrogant. Is there anything wrong with just being you? Maybe you will offend some people or they may not like you because your personality clashes with theirs. I'm just fed up of feeling beat down and need to make a change :-(

Any advice for getting the confidence back? I was hoping to try a self-help strategy before speaking to anyone.

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rubbish about yourself. It's horrible isn't it. You just feel so powerless and useless. I am in a similar situation with a severe lack of confidence especially at work. Hoping someone who has been through this can give some advice.
