So I'm having CBT for anxiety. Only 4/5 sessions so far. I'm now able to refocus and distract myself during panic and yes, that feeling goes. But I'm having to dampen down potential attacks up to a dozen times a day at the moment. Is this forever? Constantly suppressing them or will there ever come a time when I'm just not worried to begin with

There will come a time when you don't get them anymore or they are only flared up by certain things. If you can stop fearing the fear (e.g. the increasing panic) you can beat them. Are they trigged by a particular thing?

I hope so I can't imagine spending forever fighting off panic. Basically it boils down to being on my own either at home or out in public. At least I can now steer it away rather than letting it peak even if that is several times a day . Thanks.
