school phobia and emetophobia

Hi new to this forum would like some advice regarding my daughter who will be 8 next week, she has serious phobia of school and people being sick, we have since changed her school as she was so unhappy there, she would cry when she got home from school and cry when she got up, is there such a thing as school phobia, this is causing great distress to my older son who is 15 and my family, would love to hear from any parents that have gone thru this thanks.

I suffer with emetophobia, all though I don't go to school so can't help with that's.

I find small things help, I keep a carrier bag in my pocket incase I'm sick. I keep a small bottle of anti bac on me, just incase I can't get to a tap to wash my hands. I also have a travel band which helps.

Another emetophobe here, and also an ex teacher. Yes, there certainly is something called school phobia. One of my youngest son's friends developed it in September when they moved up to secondary school. He is having a lot of counselling and therapy (and is also on ADs which help him cope with the panic apparently) but he still only attends certain lessons.

As a fellow emetophobe, I understand your dd's fears, but I honestly don't see how moving schools was supposed to help. Or were there other reasons for moving? I think you should think about getting her some professional help. Your GP would be a good starting point.

dumbledores she just wasnt happy at her previous school it was a nightmare getting her in she would cry going to school and cry when she came home knowing she had to go back, we took her to the new school and she said she wanted to attend there, they have already are aware of her problems and when she starts will be getting the help she needs, she is already in contact with tamhs but so far they havent been that much help they see her one week then she gets seen maybe two or three weeks after

Really feel for your daughter , I am another emmetophobia adult and I think for me accepting it's the way I am is what has helped me.

This time of years is hell,with norovirus etc

I found CBT helpful to adegree, I wonder if you can access that for her.
