Just started on these and am feeling really hot and my face is sweating like mad - does anyone know if this side effect lasts long ?

Thanks

My initial side-effects lasted for about 10 days, but the first three or four days were the worst and it gradually got less intense after that.

Some of the side-effects of Citalopram are long-term, but most disappear within a few days. If you're still feeling this in a couple of weeks, go back and see the GP.

I felt dreadful on citalopram and asked doc to put me on sthg else so he did, but said my reaction was unusual. I had racing pulse, sweats, headaches from hell & so on, much better on lophepramine now, altho its a more 'old fashioned' drug apparently (who cares - it works!)

When I started on citalopram I did some web research on the drug and one of the side effects was that it would increase the amount that you sweat. I found that since I've been on it which is about 14 weeks now I do sweat more than I used to. What I mean is that when I go to the gym I sweat more than I used to but apparently it's normal. I really think that side effects vary from person to person but I would say that if it's making you feel ill you should see your GP.

particulary find that i sweat more around my head / hairline.

I took citalopram, + found the weird initial sensations only lasted a day or so. I felt jetlagged + didn't sleep much for a day or so.

I too seem to be sweating on my face and around my hairline - only been on it for a week so hoping it will get better - its not making me feel ill just hoping its going to wear off a bit!! ?

Hi I've been on citalopram a few months now, didn't get the sweating but my sleep was disturbed forabout a week.
Also try to remember to take them everyday (I know this sounds obvious but it's easy to forget) I forgot to take 2 last week and I felt awful yesterday headaches, depressed etc..

Thanks for all your posts - hoping my sweaty face will dry up a bit - if not I expect is better than being feeling so bloody miserable
