Feeling very alone and down

To cut a VERY long story short:

Have dd (4) and ds (6 months).
For past few years have been close to a group of friends but dont live in their locality which hasnt really been a problem.
However, now all their children are going to the same presschool and they are seeing each other every day whereas dd is going to a preschool in our village. She's been going there for a year now but i am not even close to making friends with any of the mums there. They all seem to have their group of friends from when their children were babies.
DD isnt a particulalry sociable or outgoing child so she hasnt made a "speical" friend who i could invite with mother to our house.
JUst feeling very alone atm. Dont have any close friends i can talk to.
Any advice?
Also feeling guilty as i havent made any efforts to find people with children ds's age. Feeling like im depriving him or something!

Don't beat yourself up. You are obviously missing your own friends and will have to adjust to this yourself before anything else. Halloween is coming up, would you feel up to inviting a couple of kids round for a small party? Ask a couple of mums to stay and help.

Could you invite people round?

i dont have anyone to invite round - the mums at preschool dont even speak and i have tried to make friends the point of getting upset about it.

What about your other friends, do they live too far away?
What about mother and toddlers groups, are there any around you?

Ask your hv to put you in touch with other mother and baby groups.
Why don't the mothers at pre school talk to you ?

The other mums at preschool are in their own little cliques. Obviuosly they say hello (although one or two cant even manage that) but my attempts at conversation are often met with one word answers.

The response to this thread is doing little to reassure me! People obviuosly dont warm to me for some reason

I think you are feeling slightly depressed. I would definately go and talk to your health visitor.
