My antidepressants aren't working.

Shit. It depends on which generic brand I'm given at the pharmacy I've asked to stick to one brand, but they say they can't do that.

I've spoken to the GP about this problem, but they just deny that this can happen. It can, I've read research articles on it.

I'm so angry. I can't stop thinking about death and suicide and have taken to watching depressing stuff on YouTube. I'm lost inside myself again.

I'm just about managing to put a front on for dh and the kids.

This isn't the first time it's happened. I dread getting my repeat prescriptions done.

I feel the same.
I think there is difference between brands but the pharmacists brush it off.

There are some generics my psychiatrist won't prescribe because he has seen how they have different side effects from the original.

I took an extra 10mg last night and crunched the tablets up to try and maximise absorption.

It's a bloody farce.

If this was me, I'd change GP or ask for a second opinion. I'd keep a diary of your thoughts and feelings on each brand so you've got some evidence to show them. I'd take the research articles, although that's difficult because some GPs might be offended and some will be interested, so you have to gauge that. But I'd change GP and I'd keep changing until someone listened to me.

Or maybe you could ask for a psychiatric referral? GPs aren't experts in psychiatric drugs and their effects so you could ask for a consultation with a psych and see what they say. They might be more willing to listen, fingers crossed.

Thanks, I am thinking that it would be a good idea to write on each box of meds the way I'm feeling and any problems that I've identified.

I'm on these for life, so I need to find a way of ensuring I have consistent outcomes otherwise I may as well not bother. It sux going from being has happy as larry with one script to being suicidal with another one.
