Citalopram and memory loss

Dear Mumsnetters,

I was on a low doseage of citalopram for a year - I had post-natal depression. I noticed that I was losing my memory - has anyone also noticed these symptoms?

I came off the tablets in May and I still have the same memory loss. Do you think I have lost it forever? It is driving me mad and making life quite difficult - being a working parent I have to be organised but this makes it hard.

Feeling a bit down about it. I don't feel like the same person I was.

Hi
I found the same when I was taking Citalapram approximately 2 years ago. There is a whole 18 months of my life that is a blur/fog which can be frustrating sometimes especially initially when I couldn't recall conversations or time lines of events and felt a bit stupid.
I have found my memory to have improved slowly as I weaned off the pills and there doesn't seem to be any long term effects to my memory now so this side effect must wear off eventually - just a small chunk of my life that's a bit foggy!
Good luck.

Oh. I've just done the maths and I took Citalapram over 5 years ago. Memory loss? What memory loss? ConfusedGrin

I'm the same flumox, trying to remember something is like shining a torch round an empty room sometimes. It's really frustrating.
