Propranolol experiences?

I've just been pescribed this for anxiety (I am also on 10mg Paroxetine and have been for years). I've never taken this before, and (ironically) I am anxious about starting it because of side effects/what if it doesn't work/is it going to make me worse etc etc.
Does anyone have any experinces of this they can share please? Thank you

I take 160mg slow release Propranolol each morning and have been since Jan of this year. Other than a bit of tiredness I have had no side effects and its a great medication, my anxiety is much improved and I just wish I had started it a long time ago! Now when I am in situations that previously would have had me anxious, heart racing etc I am calm and relaxed, did I say how great it was ? :)

Glad it's been working for you! :)
The dr told me to take 40mg once a day, and if I don't get any side effects, to increase this is 2 x a day.
So when do I take it? The leaflet just says 'before food'. So would in the morning with my other tablets be ok? Or is it a 'night time' pill, like will it make me sleepy and needs to be taken at night?
(Sorry for all the qs!)

I've just swapped to the slow release ones too - 80mg twice a day. I feel much calmer but do need a nap quite often....

I just take mine first thing in the morning along with the other med I am (which is for an unrelated physical issue). I used to take 80 mg morning and evening but then the doc changed that to the 160 mg slow release just for easier dosage :) . Good luck, I hope they do the trick for you.

I have tried it at 40mg and found it absolutely useless. Just made me feel very sick.

It has been a life saver for me. It has made me able to cope with anxious situations I would never have dealt with before. A couple of times I've felt a panic attack starting but with the beta blockers it doesn't turn into a full heart pumping hyperventilating attack. I didn't feel any side effects from them at all.
