How can I attract the good things in life?

I've had a tough old time of it with child abuse, bullying and relationship abuse coupled with bipolar and anorexia.
I have heard people say " think positive and good things will come."

In theory I agree but it's not that simple is it? My child abuse caused me a lot of problems so as a result I got bullied and attracted an abuser. I feel that bullies and Abusers are attracted to those who are already feeling a bit battered. It's a vicious circle.

I've also heard people say that we choose our own destiny. Well I worked hard to get my job as a teacher in a top private school about 6 months ago and yet I was bullied out within two months at the same time as my ex abusing me. What to do? Hmm

I must add that childhood bullying and abuse didn't make me a positive person.

I am very sorry for what you have been through. :(
I think positive thinking is good but in your situation it won't be enough.
You have to have rules like definitely staying away from abusers.
It is very nice that you got such a nice job.
Best wishes.

Telling someone to "think positive" when they've got real problems is really not useful. Yes you need to change your thinking but at a deep level, not superficially. Have you ever had therapy to help you come to terms with everything that happened?
