I take 20mg olanzapine
800mg sodium valproate
2mg clonazepam

And I can't get up for school run I take them at 7 and go to bed but I still can't get up and I am always late.

Now I am up I feel drowsy and sleepy and instead of tidying am lounging around.

Is there any way you can reduce the olanzapine. That is a high dose I take just 2.5 mg but any higher then I have trouble waking up. Could you have med review with your Dr?

Could you take olanzapine earlier in the evening? I get very tired in the mornings so I take my meds around seven o'clock.

Are you taking the whole 800mg of valproate at once? It's a good idea to split valproate into equal AM and PM doses. Taking 400mg in the morning and then at night might help (and will keep your blood levels more stable ) Talk to your prescribing doctor about it first of course.

Yes I take 400mg in the AM and 400mg in the PM. I can't lower the dose of olanzapine as I am in the midst of a mixed episode. Which is why it's so high. I could take it at 5:00 though and hope that helps. Thanks all.

Could your valproate be upped, and the olanzapine dropped a little in return? Valproate is a good drug for mixed states, but 800mg is low. It mightn't be touching the sides at that dose. Valproate is not particularly sedating.

Also have you had your blood levels taken recently? I ended up in a mild mixed state earlier in the year, I was on 1200mg of valproate at the time but my levels were 151! (Therapeutic minimum level is 650)

Flowers for you OP.

You sound a lot better than before, op. I've never had anything like you are going through, but you are doing well. I had an issue eith zoplicone and getting up, in the end I dropped it. That's not an option here, I know. Could you ask for a little support from a social worker in getting them up? Or friend, neighbour? Just until you feel a bit better.
