Olanzapine and weight gain

Is there anybody who has not gained any weight on olanzapine?

I take just 2.5mg dose & it hasn't affected my weight. I think higher doses do affect weight.

I will start with 2.5 mg. Hopefully I don't need to go higher.

I also take sertraline 75mg. The olanzapine acts as a boost to the sertraline as I can't take any higher dose as I get too many side effects from the sertraline. When first taking the olanzapine my ankles swelled a bit but that was the only side effect. It must be taken at night as helps you sleep. I also occasionally take Clonazapam but I've had no weight gain from any meds.
Are you currently taking anything else?

I take 20mg and I'm desperately trying to stop the gain.

I take lithium and lamotrigine. Have you gained a lot iamsuchamess?

I have gained over 3 stone so far.

Ugh. Lovely drug. I really hope it works for me but weight gain scares me.

It works brilliant for me which is why I am back on it as I found it hard on another anti psych because it wasn't working.

I have now been taking it three days, 5mg, and no munchies so far :)

My sons uses Olanzapine as an emergency PRN drug and it sets him off on an eating frenzy for days. He's had one every day now for three days due to an upset and we've increased his physical exercise to counteract the extra calories. It could be a couple of moths before he needs it again, or it could be in a few days. It just all depends. He's also on daily Haliperidol and Lithium, and gained weight, but the Olanzapine is a different kettle of fish altogether calorie intake wise.
